Log file settings

lfsett_.jpg

File name

This is the log file created during the logging. Enter a location where STAR should store the log file(s). You can use the Auto-Name tags to store multiple STAR log files in one directory. You can use following tags:
<USER> (Name of the user that is logged in)
<PC> (Name of the computer where STAR is running)
<DATE> (Current date (YYYYMMDD))
<TIME> (Current time (HHMMSS))

STAR will automatically parse and replace the tags with the current PC name, user name, date or time. This string C:\Reports\<USER>_<PC>_<DATE>_<TIME>_star.sys will be changed to C:\Reports\LAWRENCE TAN_JUPITER_20010802_123021_star.sys

Encrypt log file with password

A must if you want to prevent manipulation of the STAR log file: Even if the log file is detected, no unauthorized user can read it without using the Report Manager and the correct password to decrypt it. If you don’t enter a password, the log file will be stored in plain text. The password is case sensitive!

Logging engine modules

The invisible activity-monitoring module ("Logging engine") consists of an executable and a so-called dynamic link library with contains program code used by STAR. You are totally free to rename both filenames. So you could rename "wsys.exe" to "tetris.exe" and "wsys.dll" to "readme.txt" to hide them even for someone who would know about the STAR filenames themselves.
